Physics Enrichment Camp 2016

31 May 2016 - 3 June 2016

Targeted at secondary and junior college-level students, the Physics Enrichment Camp primarily aims to instil an interest in Physics amongst the students through providing a highly interactive learning experience. A wide variety of activities include:

- Highly entertaining lectures by our faculty staff, commonly accompanied by captivating live demonstrations.

- Research lab tours where students gain a rich insight into the research work by Centre for Advanced 2D materials, Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), Centre for Ion Beam Applications (CIBA), etc.

- Teaching lab tours where students can learn the principles of laser, scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and discover some of the experiments that are part of our Physics undergraduate curriculum.

- Students also get to experience interactive hands-on activities, conducted by NUS Physics majors (a few non-Physics majors too), that aim to illuminate Physics concepts and their interesting applications.

This year's PEC has been a success owing to the dedication of many NUS staff and student helpers. In particular, Physoc Committee Members together with staff of Physics Department have invested commendable efforts in the planning of PEC 2016. We also like to thank all Secondary School and Junior College participants of PEC for their kind support and keen attitude towards exploring Physics. Above all, we hope the experience had been an eye-opener and an inspiration to the young and curious!
