NUS Presidential Young Professorship

NUS Department of Physics invites talented young academics with excellent research track to apply for appointments as NUS Presidential Young Professors.

Successful candidates will receive:

A tenure-track position with an attractive salary package as an assistant professor at NUS.

Up to SGD 1 million in a start-up research grant

Scholarships to hire PhD students*

An award of SGD 250,000 in white space funding.

An opportunity to compete for the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship, which comes with a five-year research grant of up to SGD 3 million.

Prestigious Pre-Tenure Postdoctoral Opportunities:

NUS Society of Fellows (NSoF)

The NUS Society of Fellows (NSoF) is a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship programme open to talented young researchers of exceptional intellectual ability and resourcefulness. An NSoF awardee will automatically progress to become a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the end of his/her fellowship.

Eligibility

  • Obtained their PhD degree within the past 1 year or will be obtaining their PhD degree in the next year;
  • Displayed exceptional intellectual ability and resourcefulness to produce original work of the highest quality;
  • Exhibit a strong potential to lead their projects as independent researchers; and
  • Ability to compete successfully for prestigious placements at the end of their fellowships.

Benefits

  • NSoF awardees will receive an internationally competitive salary package similar to that for NUS Assistant Professors.
  • The NSoF award will be provided for up to a maximum of 2 years with a research grant of up to SGD100,000 to support the awardees’ research activities.
  • There will not be any teaching nor service requirements imposed on NSoF awardees.
  • NSoF awardees will automatically progress to become Tenure Track Assistant Professors at the end of their fellowships.
