More than 120 participants from over 26 countries convened at the 48th International Symposium on Multi-particle Dynamics (ISMD) from 3 to 7 September 2018. This international high energy particle physics event was hosted by the National University of Singapore and the Institute of Advanced Studies, and took place at the Nanyang Executive Suite, Nanyang Technological University.

Consisting of only plenary talks, the objective of ISMD is to provide particle physics experimentalists, phenomenologists and theorists a conducive environment to present their latest experimental data and theoretical results. Discussions were focused on high energy, heavy ions and astro-particle physics with a common interest in scatterings that involve a large number of particles in the final state.

The International Symposium on Multi-particle Dynamics (ISMD) has a long and proud tradition that dates back to 1970 when it was first hosted in Paris, France. Since then, this highly regarded series of ISMD conferences has oscillated between Europe, America and Asia. Recent symposiums were held in Tlaxcala (Mexico, 2017), Jeju Island (South Korea, 2016), Wildbad Kreuth (Germany, 2015) and Bologna (Italy, 2014). Our NUS HEP group had great fun organising the conference and it was a great experience for our students to interact with so many international particle physicists.
