Current Research

Gong’s group investigates novel topological phases of matter and their applications in quantum computation and quantum information transfer. His group continues to explore innovations in quantum dynamics control and quantum simulation, with possible applications in quantum metrology and quantum sensing. Another long-term research direction focuses on disorder physics and quantum chaos in few-body and many-body systems. Gong’s group has also recently started adventures in quantum machine learning, pursuing potential quantum benefits in machine learning.

Fluctuations of localized wavepackets evolved from two different types of initial conditions show universal fluctuation statistics in 2D Anderson localization. Figure taken from Phys. Rev. Lett. 132, 046301 (2024), by Mu, Gong and Lemarie.
