Current Research
- Chiral materials have exceptional potential for engineering photon polarization states through asymmetric light-matter interactions. Their influence extended beyond optics, as the structural asymmetry inherent in chirality impacts a wide range of materials and multiphysical fields, affecting various physical phenomena and properties and fueling technological innovations. The chirality-discrimination effects underscore the importance of integrating fundamental physics, chemistry, and biology at the materials interfaces from atomic to macroscopic scales, to explore the underlying principles and new frontiers behind chirality and asymmetry.
- At TEAN Lab, our next research frontier will focus on advancing structured photons and thermal effects through four primary thrusts:
- Asymmetrical nanocavities for quantum engineering in photocatalysis and bioimaging
- “Perfect” chiral light emitters with controlled photon frequency, spin, and orbital angular momentum
- Topological thermal engineering for enhanced thermal conduction, propagation, and transformation
- Machine learning-driven optical design optimization
