Focused laser created light emitting carbon powder which changes colour readily in the presence of heat.

With carbon, there is light. Laser brings light to ultra-black carbon powder recovered from tyre wastes. This fluorescing carbon powder readily changes its colour when exposed to heat, making it a potential thermal indicator.

I have always been participating in various research opportunities, but this is my first time conducting research in an institution. Through this opportunity, I had an eye opening experience and learnt a lot on research methodology. As this is my first individual project, I am also very grateful for my mentor who guided me throughout my lab journey and ensuring that all my doubts are cleared. Lab has gave me much joy despite all the restrictions faced last year. Last but not the least, I've forged new & memorable friendships through this experience 🙂
