On-demand transposition across light-matter interaction regimes in bosonic cQED
February 13, 2025 NUS Physics Breakthrough of the Year: 2024

This work introduces a superconducting circuit that combines long-lived harmonic oscillators with rapid, on-demand tuning, enabling fast control without compromising quantum coherence. The device developed by Fernando Valadares and team in Assistant Prof. Yvonne Gao’s group, provides strong, broadband magnetic fields to tune key system parameters on nanosecond timescales, while the built-in filters effectively preserves the coherence of the quantum elements. This approach overcomes a long-standing challenge in the field of bosonic superconducting systems, paving the way for more flexible and efficient architectures for bosonic quantum processors.
