Versatility and Functionality. Micropatterning of designs can be crafted on ash samples with the help of a focused laser beam. The addition of graphene oxide into the ash mixture encourages stronger site selective fluorescence from the treated composite material.

From ashes, it is reborn. We embark on a discovering journey as we look to uncover new properties of ashes. By widening its potential uses, we hope to do our part to slow down the rate of land refill in the Pulau Semakau.

Research at the Nanomaterials Lab stretched my creativity and resilience as we explored the many characteristics of our subject for applications. I appreciated the aspect of collaboration from mentors and seniors especially in such a specialised field. My experience has spurred on my interest for Science!

Doing research was an eye-opening experience for me. I got to understand how rigorous and demanding research can be. However at the same time, collecting results and learning new things is also very fun and it was nice to see our results come to fruition with the help of our mentors 🙂
